Second Chance for Animals, Inc. is a nonprofit volunteer group devoted to enhancing the lives, adoption rates, and experiences of the animals living in shelters.  We currently assist the Franklin Township, NJ Animal Shelter.  Learn more about us here, To learn more about adopting a pet from the Franklin Township Animal Shelter, please visit their web page at the petfinder.org web.

SCFA always need volunteers!  Due to cut-backs at the Township our help is needed more than ever.  We can always use folks in all areas of our group.  Call 732 748-SCFA (7232) and let us know you would like to help.  Be sure to leave a clear message and include how we can reach you.  You must be 18 or older in order to work with the animals.

Important news - the Franklin Township Animal Shelter is now open for adoptions Thursday evenings from 5:30-7:30 in addition to Tuesday-Saturday 12 - 3PM. We hope this will make it easier for working people to be able to find their new pets.  (Volunteers are still welcome to come for our regularly scheduled socialization period which also is Thursday evenings between 5:30 and 7:30.)

Franklin Township Animal Shelter 475 DeMott Lane Somerset, NJ 08873 732 873-2500 X 6255 Hours: Tuesday-Saturday 12 PM - 3 PM; Thursday evening 5:30-7:30 PM SCFA also bring cats for adoption to the PetsMart in Bridgewater, NJ (near the Ball Park) each Saturday between 10:30 AM - 3 PM.  We visit PetValu in Hillsborough the second Sunday of each month. And now we are at  PetCo in Milltown on the first two Saturdays and the third Sunday of each month.  Look for us in the adoption center.  Whenever possible we bring dogs in addition to cats to PetValu and PetCo. Kuranda Dog beds give our dogs a cozy, dry, elevated place to sleep but  we don't have enough for everyone. Kuranda now has cat beds as well.
