Cruella - ? - 10/12/2008
Before I adopted Cruella I remember visiting her at the shelter. The first time I saw this sweet one-eyed cat with the torn ear, she reached for me through her cage. I fell in love with her instantly. I know she had been there for 3 years! Due to the compassion and dedication of FTAS and SCFA she became my buddy, my girl, my sweet pea - the care she received at the shelter had made her a very loving kitty despite her prolonged “incarceration.” She adapted to her new home immediately. From the moment Cruella stepped out of the carrier into my home she was the Queen of the Castle. She loved to explore and never failed to keep guests (whether family, friends, the plumber, the A/C guys) company often overseeing their work! She would greet me everyday after work, and never slept during the evening hours. Instead, she would site with me and relax or watch TV. She was a riot -- she would become so confused when a doorbell or phone would ring on the television. If birds were chirping or there were other nature sounds she would go to the TV and get up on her hind legs trying to get closer. She also loved sleeping with me. Sadly, after having her only 9 months, Cruella fell ill, and despite care at my vet and Garden State Veterinary Specialists, Cruella died in my arms on Columbus Day after only 2 and a half weeks. To this day I can’t think of her without tearing up -- I wish we could have spent many more years together. But I feel lucky to have been her “Mom” and I do cherish every moment that we had. She gave me so much comfort. I miss her so much. She was special. - Chris
