Dear Friend,

It doesn't matter who we are or where we live, we all start our day the same way.  From our first waking moment, we begin our day with an undeniable act of trust. But what does it mean to trustto really trust? It means Turning ourselves over to a day of uncertainty.  It means Relying on someone or something to satisfy our needs. It means having the Utmost confidence in those we have entrusted. It means a sense of Security. It means Total belief in someone else's abilities.

We're not the only ones who begin our day as an absolute act of trust.  So do the many homeless animals of the Franklin Township Animal Shelter. Whether they've been abused or abandoned, found wandering the streets of our community, or surrendered by someone who can no longer care for them, they begin and live each day as an unconditional act of trust. We respect their trust in us and in return, we ensure their safety and shelter their vulnerability.  We feed them, love them and nurture them. We are their entrusted guardians.

We're Second Chance for Animals, Inc., a dedicated not-for-profit volunteer organization dedicated to offering hope and fulfilling the trust of the homeless animals here in Franklin Township. Together with shelter staff members, Second Chance volunteers devote themselves and their love of animals to enrich the lives of these homeless animals. The love and attention given to these animals enhances their ability to trust and greatly increases their chances of being adopted.

As an honor to the animals whose trust we've gained in the past, for those whose inevitable act of trust we await, and as a tribute to your own pets, whose trust is only surpassed by unconditional love, please remember the shelter animals with your financial support. We have placed our trust in you in the past and must continue to trust in you. Your support is greatly appreciated, and your contribution is tax deductible. More importantly, your generosity and compassion has and will make a life-saving difference to these shelter animals. Here's what we have been able to do and will continue to do with your financial support.

  • Provide quality veterinary care for all the shelter animals
  • Spay and neuter all shelter animals prior to adoption - 85 animals have already been adopted in 2004
  • Improve the shelter facility housing the animals
  • Provide additional crates so we can care for more animals when the shelter nears capacity
  • Micro-chip all adopted dogs
  • Promote and encourage spaying and neutering throughout the community to help reduce the number of homeless animals
  • Promote the Franklin Township Animal Shelter to encourage adopters to visit us

Please take a moment to visit our website at www.secondchanceforanimals.org where you'll learn more about Second Chance for Animals, the Franklin Township Animal Shelter and the many homeless animals waiting for their second chance. Together, we are their hope for a future and a second chance in life. Their second chance may be their first real chance for a loving, trusting and forever home.

On behalf of the animals at the Franklin Township Animal Shelter, we thank you for letting us into your hearts and your homes

Other ways - that you can help -

  • Join Second Chance For Animals - we’re always looking for dedicated volunteers to help in many ways. Contact us for the next orientation meeting.
  • Purchase items through our web site. You can get some great stuff and make a contribution at the same time. Information is available on our shopping page and our donations page as well as special links on our home page. Shopping at 24 x 7 or our cafepress sites gets you some great merchandise that promotes issues near and dear to our hears, and is an additional contribution to Second Chance for Animals.
  • Donation needed items to the shelter. The shelter is always in need of items to feed, clean and care for the animals. See their ongoing wish list. Now that is spring is upon us, it’s kitten season! This time of year brings added pressure in caring for so many unwanted little babies. Our foster parents do as much as they can but at this time of the year, we’re always in need of special kitten supplies.
  • Adopt or encourage others to adopt from your local animal shelter!
  • Spay or neuter your pets and encourage others to do the same. Through the funds raised by Second Chance For Animals, the Franklin Township Animal Shelter does not adopt any animal until it has been fixed. Other facilities are not as lucky. Please don’t add to the problem of overpopulation - get your animals neutered today!
